Your first week with a dot
Five low-risk jobs to learn how your dot works before you trust it with anything that reaches other people.
Start with jobs that only read and report. You’ll see how your dot summarizes, how it follows up, and where its updates land, without anything leaving your account. OpenAI’s own advice is the same: review the first result, correct what’s missing, then give it more.
How to work through it. Day one, paste the morning brief and tell your dot where you want updates to go. By midweek, set a one-off reminder so you can see how a scheduled task shows up under Scheduled in your dot’s profile. Then hand it one small research question and one real project to keep track of.
What to watch for. Check whether the first brief missed anything, whether updates arrived where you asked, and whether the dot confirmed each schedule back to you. If something reads wrong, say so in the conversation; that feedback is how your dot learns your preferences.
-
Morning brief from inbox and calendar
Every weekday before work, your dot reads today's calendar and overnight email and sends one short brief: meetings, prep, replies owed.
-
Route updates by channel
Routine progress stays in ChatGPT; decisions, risks and approvals reach you in Slack with the options and a deadline.
-
Remind me later
Your dot sends a one-time reminder at the time and time zone you choose, with a line of context, then stops.
-
Research a topic and report
Your dot researches a question, favors primary sources, and reports key findings with a link and date for each.
-
Keep an offsite on track
Hand your dot the plan and venue emails; it tracks decisions, deadlines and open questions, and drafts replies for you to send.
