Every weekday at 8 AM and 1 PM Eastern for the next four weeks, triage the email that arrived since your last check. Sort each message into three groups: needs me (a question, request or decision only I can handle), FYI (worth knowing, no action), and ignore (newsletters, promotions, automated notifications). For each needs-me message, write a short reply in my usual tone and save it as a draft in the same thread. Don't send, archive, delete, label or move anything. In one message in ChatGPT, list the needs-me items first with a one-line summary and a note that a draft is waiting, then FYI items in one line each, then a count of ignored messages. If nothing needs me, say so in one line. Confirm the schedule.
Paste it into your dot's conversation in ChatGPT. Edit anything in [brackets] first.
How it works
- Connect your email through Plugins. Your dot needs to read mail and create drafts, nothing more.
- In Settings > Personalization > Custom rules, set sending email to Ask before taking action. OpenAI notes that asking for drafts doesn’t give your dot permission to send them; the rule makes that explicit.
- Change the two times and the time zone to yours, then paste the prompt. Your dot should confirm the schedule back to you.
- After the first few runs, correct the sorting (“anything from my manager is needs me”) and your dot adjusts. Open your drafts folder, edit, and send the ones you want.
